Lead Partner: Falkland Heritage Trust
Description
Falkland Centre for Stewardship exists to promote the principles and practice of stewardship in 21st Century Scotland. The Centre is a project of the Falkland Heritage Trust. We see stewardship as the act and art of holding and nurturing assets for others – whether buildings, land (even the planet itself!), communities, culture or traditions. Good stewards mind the future, look beyond themselves and are in short supply.
Our Vision-
Our vision is to restore, reclaim and sustain the spirit of Falkland Estate's rich and diverse heritage and to inspire and practise responsible stewardship.
Programmes and Activities-
We run the Big Tent, Scotland's only festival of stewardship. The festival brings together groups, organisations and visitors who care about their places and what they can do to make a brighter future. There's debates, exhibitions, music, good food, workshops, crafts and other activites. Dates for 2007 are 15th-17th June. Falkland Centre for Stewardship also provides education on stewardship issues, promotes access to and enjoyment of the Falkland Estate and undertakes restoration and conservation projects.
Rural Leadership Programme
The Rural Leadership Programme (RLP) is a one year 'learning journey' for rural people who, building on their passion for their place, are leading the way to sustainable community futures.
It is for people who are active in their community, working locally with others for a common purpose, and people from the public and private sectors working in community development. Through inquiring at a personal, community/professional and global level participants will increase their effectiveness, strengthen networks, connect to resources, and respond to ‘big picture’ issues in rural community development.
Falkland Centre for Stewardship is poineering this programme which is directed by Nick Wilding Consulting.
