This seminar is hosted by the Centre for Remote and Rural Studies in Scotland. Led by Carnegie's Rural Progamme Director Kate Braithwaite, it will explore Carnegie's experience and aims for promoting 'Fiery Spirits' – a new Community of Practice for rural activists.
In implementing Carnegie's vision of the sustainable rural community of the future, the single most effective action the Trust can take is the creation and structuring of opportunities for people to network, communicate, mentor, and learn from each other to help capture tacit knowledge; knowledge that's acquired by individuals about how things really get done. There is a growing recognition that valuable learning often takes place informally, through conversations, social interactions, and projects – a Community of Practice. We consider that the Community of Practice promises to radically galvanise knowledge sharing, learning and change.
This seminar will be held from 11.30am to 3pm on Friday 3rd April at The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) Executive Office, 12b Ness Walk, Inverness, Scotland IV3 5SQ.
