The Wayland Partnership is a community led regeneration partnership focussing on the market town of Watton and the thirteen neighbouring rural parishes in the Breckland District of Norfolk which for some years have been vulnerable to poverty and deprivation through a downturn in the local economy and the loss of services.
Since the Partnership was formed in 1999, the project has been a genuine and exciting grass roots development with all of its early activity achieved by volunteers working for their community. A company limited by guarantee was formed and charitable status achieved. The Company is managed on behalf of the Partnership by six trustees. In the last two years the Partnership has grown, with the introduction of an office presence on the High Street, the employment of 4 full-time and 2 part-time members of staff, and the continuing support of a large number of volunteers. The Partnership has attracted more than £1.5m in funding to the Wayland area since 1999 and has enabled a variety of innovative and successful community projects.
